As for the Holy Qur’an, it is the Word of God Almighty and the most noble and exalted book in the Arabic language. It is the most important reason for preserving Arabic and transmitting it through the centuries. The Qur’an was revealed gradually over twenty-three years through Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, at a time when Arabic was already rich in poetry and rhetoric, yet it came in a miraculous style unmatched in eloquence and expression.
This linguistic miracle elevated Arabic as the standard of eloquence, making the Qur’an a literary and linguistic reference for Muslims and scholars. It also unified the Arabs’ different dialects, as Classical Arabic was established based on the Quraysh dialect in which the Qur’an was revealed.
During the Islamic Golden Age, Arabic spread as the language of science and civilization, with scholars writing in it across fields such as law, medicine, philosophy, and astronomy. The Qur’an facilitated reading and writing, encouraging a great intellectual and cultural renaissance throughout the Muslim world.
Today, the Qur’an still safeguards the prestige of the Arabic language. Millions of Muslims learn and recite it daily in their prayers, keeping Arabic alive and renewed, and affirming the deep connection between the language and the religious and cultural identity of Muslims.
أَمَّا بِالنِّسْبَةِ إِلَى القُرْآنِ الكَرِيمِ، فَهُوَ كَلَامُ اللهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى، وَهُوَ أَرْقَى وَأَعْظَمُ كِتَابٍ فِي اللُّغَةِ العَرَبِيَّةِ، وَمِنْ ثَمَّ فَهُوَ السَّبَبُ الأَهَمُّ فِي حِفْظِهَا وَنَقْلِهَا عَبْرَ القُرُونِ. نَزَلَ القُرْآنُ الكَرِيمُ مُفَرَّقًا عَلَى مَدَارِ ثَلاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، بِوَاسِطَةِ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، عَلَى النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، فِي زَمَنٍ كَانَتْ فِيهِ العَرَبِيَّةُ غَنِيَّةً بِالشِّعْرِ وَالبَلَاغَةِ، وَلَكِنَّهُ جَاءَ بِأُسْلُوبٍ مُعْجِزٍ لَمْ يَسْبِقْ لِلْعَرَبِ أَنْ عَرَفُوهُ فِي الفَصَاحَةِ وَالبَيَانِ.
هَذَا الإِعْجَازُ اللُّغَوِيُّ رَفَعَ مَكَانَةَ اللُّغَةِ العَرَبِيَّةِ كَمِعْيَارٍ لِلْفَصَاحَةِ، وَجَعَلَ القُرْآنَ مَرْجِعًا أَدَبِيًّا وَلُغَوِيًّا لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالعُلَمَاءِ. كَمَا وَحَّدَ القُرْآنُ بَيْنَ أَلْسِنَةِ العَرَبِ المُخْتَلِفَةِ، إِذْ قَامَتِ اللُّغَةُ العَرَبِيَّةُ الفُصْحَى عَلَى لَهْجَةِ قُرَيْشٍ الَّتِي نَزَلَ بِهَا القُرْآنُ.
فِي العَصْرِ الإِسْلَامِيِّ، انْتَشَرَتِ العَرَبِيَّةُ كَلُغَةٍ لِلْعِلْمِ وَالحَضَارَةِ، فَكَتَبَ العُلَمَاءُ بِهَا فِي مَجَالاتٍ مِثْلَ القَانُونِ وَالطِّبِّ وَالفَلْسَفَةِ وَالفَلَكِ. وَقَدْ سَاعَدَ القُرْآنُ عَلَى تَيْسِيرِ القِرَاءَةِ وَالكِتَابَةِ، مِمَّا كَانَ دَافِعًا إِلَى نَهْضَةٍ فِكْرِيَّةٍ كُبْرَى فِي العَالَمِ الإِسْلَامِيِّ.
وَفِي زَمَنِنَا الحَاضِرِ، لا يَزَالُ القُرْآنُ يَحْتَفِظُ بِمَكَانَةِ اللُّغَةِ العَرَبِيَّةِ عَالِيَةً عَزِيزَةً؛ فَـمَلايِينَ المُسْلِمِينَ يَتَعَلَّمُونَهُ وَيَتْلُونَهُ فِي صَلَوَاتِهِمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَهَذَا مَا يُحَافِظُ عَلَى بَقَاءِ العَرَبِيَّةِ حَيَّةً وَمُتَجَدِّدَةً، وَيُؤَكِّدُ العَلاقَةَ العَمِيقَةَ بَيْنَ اللُّغَةِ وَالهُوِيَّةِ الدِّينِيَّةِ وَالثَّقَافِيَّةِ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ.
